This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework and for maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other educators.

Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.

Entry Requirement

The following are the admission requirements:

Eligibility: –

  • The candidate must complete 18yrs of age or older at the time of course commencement.
  • Potential candidates may be asked to undertake an LLN Assessment/Enrolment Interview prior to acceptance to the course.
  • The candidate needs to ensure that they have completed anyone of the following: –
  • CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • OR
  • CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

IELTS Requirements: –

  • The candidate needs to secure the English level of IELTS 6.0, with no band less than 5.5 OR

    Equivalent such as;

    IBT – 60

    CAE – 169

    OET – Pass

    Duolingo – 100

    General English Advanced MOI Certificate Or

    Certificate IV OR

    Higher Qualification with an Australian Institution.

  • The candidate must have the ability to undertake a work placement at a regulated child care centre.
Assessment

Assessments may include written questions, demonstration of tasks/techniques, group activities, in class activities, role play, presentation, work-based project, research projects, and workplace observations/evidences.

Award Requirements

Students will need to successfully complete all units in this course to receive certificate of CHC50121 – Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. Learners who partially complete the qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units they are deemed competent. It is mandatory to complete work placement hours to be eligible for attainment of this qualification.

Students receive their certificate of completion in CHC50121- Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care on completion of all required units of the course.

Students who partially complete the course will receive a “Statement of Attainment” for the units deemed competent by the candidate. Work placement hours are to be completed on a mandatory basis for the attainment of this qualification.

Vocational Placement

This qualification requires that the learner completes a total of at least 280 hours of work placement in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia.

Essential Information
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING RPL/ CREDIT TRANSFER

ISMT College recognises qualifications issued by other RTOs. At the same time, accept and mutually recognise the qualifications and Statements of Attainment awarded by any other registered training organisation unless precluded by licensing requirements. We can also consider and grant Credit Transfer for subjects or units you have completed where equivalence can be established between the unit in your course, and the subject or unit you have completed.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where skills and knowledge that you have gained through work and life experience and other unrecognised training can be formally recognised.

ISMT College will discuss with the candidate the process and the options for RPL, during the entry process and interview stage. The suitability of the candidate is often determined on how much experience one had in certain areas, their work history and previous training.

If RPL is determined that as a candidate you have a possibility, then you will be provided with a kit that will guide you in working through each unit to determine relevant skills and experience and identify whether you would be able to provide the required evidence.

UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER (USI) REQUIREMENT

It has been made mandatory for all students studying VET coursed in Australia to use a USI.

The USI is available online and free of cost to the student. The USI will stay with the student for life and be recorded with any nationally recognised VET course that is completed.
